The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that as a result of health care reform, there is zero growth in Medicare’s 2014 Part B premiums and deductibles.
The monthly Part B premium will be $104.90, the same that it was in 2013 for beneficiaries earning under $85,000. There are income related increases for the Part B premium for those earning over $85,000.
The Part B deductible also remains at $147.00. The Medicare Part A deductible that beneficiaries pay when admitted to the hospital will be $1,216 in 2014, an increase of $32 from this year’s $1,184 deductible. This deductible is applied for the first 60 days of hospitalization. Beneficiaries must pay $304 per day for hospital days 61 through 90 in 2014, and $608 per day for hospital stays beyond the 90th day.
